INV Homeschool Collective 2026-2027
Our homeschool collective offers a wide selection of classes for ages 8 through 18, including the core subjects Math, Science, English and History, and elective classes like Musical Theater, Psychology, Shop, Robotics, Art, and Life Skills.
We strive to foster an opportunity for a peaceful community and creativity in a safe environment.
ALL students must be able to regulate their emotions and behavior. All students and parents are required to sign our Code of Conduct. INV reserves the right to dismiss a student who is not willing or able to keep the code of conduct.
INV is a NO PHONE ZONE. All students will keep their cell phones in their bag or their cubby.
There is a studio registration fee of $300 per year, per student to cover the cost of the facilities.
We offer classes for the entire school year, August through April. One semester classes may also be offered either in the Fall or Spring.
A minimum of 5 students is required for every class.
Tuition is paid per semester; Fall Semester is due Aug. 31st and Spring Semester is due Jan.1st. We offer direct pay for those with PEP or UA scholarships.

Craft Lab

A creative space where kids are guided on an exploration of various mediums and methods of artistic expression. Students will get to make and take dozens of crafts culminating in an end of year craft show!

Life Skills
Age 8-12; $175 per semester - Thursdays 12:00-1:00
This fun, age-appropriate class introduces middle school students to important everyday life skills while building confidence, responsibility, and independence.
Students will explore topics such as:
Basic money management
Responsibility and routines
Organization and time management
Healthy habits and wellness
Communication and social skills
Introductory cooking and kitchen safety
Goal setting and decision-making
Simple home and life management skills
Serving others and teamwork
Class may also include:

IEW Elementary Writing
Ages 9-12; $200 per semester - Mondays & Thursdays 11:00-12:00
This beginning writing class uses the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW)'s Structure and Style method to help young students build a solid foundation in writing. Through fun, incremental lessons, students will learn to organize their thoughts, take notes, and write clear, complete paragraphs. They will also practice using stylistic techniques like strong verbs, quality adjectives, and sentence variety to make their writing more interesting. With gentle guidance, students will grow in confidence and develop the skills they need for future academic success-all in a supportive, encouraging environment. Meets twice a week.

Intro into Spanish
Ages 8-18; $200 per semester - Mondays 11:00 - 12:00
An introductory course designed for students with little to no prior experience in Spanish. Students will learn basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and essential grammar while developing foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through interactive activities, songs, and simple conversations, students will begin to communicate in everyday situations and gain confidence using the language.

Fractions Math-U-See
Ages 8-18; $200 per semester - Tuesdays 11:00-12:00
In this class your student will explore basic operations with fractions using the Fraction Overlay manipulatives. Enjoy learning fractions and concepts like generating equivalent fractions, recognizing common factors, and fluently adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions with confidence.

Science Explorers Chemistry & Physics
Ages 8-12; $200 per semester - Tuesdays 12:00-1:00
In this course, students will explore the world of chemistry and physics using; Investigate the Matter that Makes up Your World and Super Simple Physics to explore the worlds of chemistry and physics along with hands on activities.

Science Explorers Anatomy
Ages 8-12; $200/semester - Mondays 2:00-3:00
In Science Explorers Anatomy, students will study the nervous, respiratory, and circulation systems of the human body. Inside this fascinating study of anatomy and physiology, your student will discover how the brain communicates with the rest of the body, how we breathe, why our circulation system is essential, and so much more through engaging text, beautiful illustrations, worksheets, and lab activities.

Elementary Robotics
Ages 8-12; $150 per semester - Mondays 2:00-3:00
Basic Robotics will cover planning for robotic builds in the key areas of mechanics, electronics, and programming. The older kids in this age bracket will take on leadership roles as the year progresses. We will possibly do a couple of competitions depending on grant approval. The class will progress at a pace set by the students to keep it enjoyable and challenging at the same time.

Literature & Living History
Ages 8-12; $200 per semester - Mondays 12:00-1:00
Step into the pages of timeless stories and experience history like never before! In this interactive course, students will journey through classic tales and important moments from the past, bringing both literature and history to life in vibrant, hands-on ways. Each week, we’ll read stories from around the world, discover fascinating figures and events, and engage in creative projects such as dramatic reenactments, arts and crafts, and group discussions. From the myths of ancient civilizations to the adventures of explorers and inventors, students will build a deeper understanding of the world—past and present—while developing reading comprehension, note-taking, critical thinking, and communication skills. Join us as we make the stories of yesterday unforgettable adventures for today!

Public Speaking/Research Skills
Ages 8-12; $150 per semester - Tuesdays 12:00-1:00
Research Skills, Learning to Love Learning, Respecting Others
This research based class will encourage and teach students how to research their topic.
They may use IEW writing skills to present it to get some practice in or they mat use whatever writing style that’s familiar to them.
Students will be given a broad category each week of science (fall) or history (spring) and each student is expected to do a short speech (paragraph or two) and simple illustration on the topic of their choice within that category.
For example, reptiles, birds, amphibians… or, the bronze age, medieval age, renaissance, etc
Each week, other students will learn from your child’s presentation and each student will end the year with a portfolio of their work from the year!

Herstory - A study of women in history.
Ages 8-12; $200 per semester - Tuesdays 2:00-3:00
Through discussions and group activities we’ll follow the lives of 50 Powerhouse Women from around the globe and across time who managed to change the world as they knew it. Stories from their childhood, challenges they faced, and the impact of their achievements. Inspiring us all into the great things we can achieve!

Introduction into Musical Theater
Ages 8-18; $200 per semester - Mondays 10:00-11:00
Core modules include ensemble building, vocal technique, character development, and theater vocabulary. Basic choreography, spatial awareness, character movement, and warm-ups are taught as well as developing coordination and using movement to tell a story.

INV Company Performers
Ages 8-18; FREE semester - Thursdays 2:00-3:00
This is an audition only class. This group will represent INV both on and off the stage. Students must have at least a year of training with INV performing arts and must be currently enrolled in at least once dance class, vocal ensemble or private voice, and an acting class. Misti Roberts and Jennifer Austin will set pieces at the beginning of the year and this group will perform at local community events. We will also perform at schools and nursing homes during class time later in the year. You must be available for periodic weekend community events.
Cost - FREE but must pay the $300 per student annual facility fee.

Spanish
Ages 12-18; $200 per semester - Mondays 12:00-1 :00
This course is intended for students who have previously studied Spanish or already have a basic understanding of the language. Students will expand their vocabulary, strengthen grammar skills, and improve their ability to communicate in more complex sentences. Emphasis will be placed on conversation, comprehension, and writing, helping students build fluency and confidence in real-life contexts while deepening their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.

Book Club (MS/HS)

In this club, we will read from the classics and host round table discussions.
Self & Society: Psychology of Everyday Life
Age 12-18; $300 per semester - Tuesdays 10:00-11:00
Step into a practical, encouraging class designed to help students (ages 12 and up) understand their own inner world—and build the skills to thrive with others. Using a student-friendly blend of cognitive-behavioral tools and a “systems” perspective (how families, friendships, groups, and culture shape us), learners will explore how thoughts, emotions, body signals, and behaviors work together to create their day-to-day experience. Each week, students will practice real-life strategies for emotional regulation, flexible thinking, and confident communication, while also learning how to navigate different social settings with empathy, boundaries, and self-respect.
Lessons include guided self-reflection, interactive activities, role-play scenarios, discussion, and simple take-home practices that can be used immediately at home, with friends, and in group environments. With humor, kindness, and “meet-you-where-you-are” teaching, students will build a personal toolkit for handling stress, conflict, misunderstandings, and social pressure—so they can show up more grounded, more connected, and more themselves.

This practical, hands-on class is designed to help teens build confidence and real-world readiness before adulthood.

IEW Writing and Easy Grammar
Age 13-18; $200 per semester - Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00-1:00
Unlock the power of words and master the building blocks of language in this engaging writing and grammar course! Designed for students ages 13 and up, this class blends the proven techniques of the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) with the straightforward clarity of Easy Grammar. Each week, students will learn to craft compelling essays, narratives, and reports while systematically strengthening their understanding of grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation. Through step-by-step instruction and practical exercises, participants will develop essential skills in outlining, note-taking, and editing. Lessons include focused grammar mini-lessons, interactive writing assignments, peer review, and opportunities for creative self-expression. Writing for Upper HighSchool & College Prep
Age 16+; $250 per semester - Mondays 2:00-3:00
This class serves as a writing class for students who have mastered basic high school structure and grammar. Students will hone their skills in tone, audience awareness and rigorous proofreading to find their unique writing voice that will take them into college or the professional world. Use of devices such as a laptop or iPad with a keyboard is recommended and highly encouraged as students will write in class as well as at home.

Writing Lab
Ages 12+; $175 per semester - Thursdays 1:00-2:00
This lab is a quiet, protected workspace for any student enrolled in a writing or literature class either at INV or elsewhere. Students may work on any writing or literature assignment during this time. A writing proctor will be available throughout lab time for any help or editing that students may need. Drop-ins or special proofreading available upon request. Devices permitted for assignments only.

Pre-Algebra Math-U-See
Ages 11-15; $350/semester - Mondays & Thursdays 12:00-1:00
This course uses the Math-U-See Pre-Algebra curriculum to bridge the gap between basic math and Algebra 1. Students will strengthen foundational skills while being introduced to more advanced concepts such as integers, order of operations, solving for variables, exponents, basic equations, ratios, proportions, and introductory geometry. The Math-U-See program’s step-by-step instruction, visual aids, and hands-on manipulatives support a variety of learning styles, making math more accessible and less intimidating. This course is ideal for middle school students preparing to move into formal algebra.

Algebra I Math-U-See

This course uses the Math-U-See Algebra 1 curriculum to provide a strong foundation in algebraic concepts with a focus on mastery and real-world application. Students will explore variables, expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, exponents, polynomials, factoring, graphing, and quadratic equations. The curriculum emphasizes step-by-step instruction, visual modeling, and consistent practice to build confidence and deepen understanding. Math-U-See’s multi-sensory approach supports a variety of learning styles, making abstract concepts more concrete. Successful completion of Pre-Algebra is recommended prior to enrollment.

Geometry Math-U-See

This high school geometry course uses the Math-U-See curriculum to provide a comprehensive and hands-on approach to learning geometric concepts. Students will explore various topics, including lines, angles, triangles, polygons, circles, congruence, similarity, area, volume, and geometric proofs. Emphasis is placed on logical reasoning, problem-solving, and the development of critical thinking skills. The Math-U-See program supports visual and kinesthetic learners through the use of manipulatives and step-by-step instruction, making abstract concepts more accessible. Students should be comfortable with Algebra I before enrolling.

Intro into Physics w/ Labs
Ages 13-18; $325 per semester - Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:00-3:00
Physics 101 is a complete overview of physics from a biblical perspective, designed to make the principles and laws that govern the natural world clear and understandable. This course uses thousands of visuals, animations, and real-world examples to bring physics to life. Students will not only learn the fundamentals of physics but will also see the wonder of God's design woven into every lesson. Carefully crafted for high school students, the course is visually rich, academically solid, and appropriate for the entire family. Physics can seem intimidating or dry, but Physics 101 makes it exciting, clear, and approachable. From Newton's laws to the complex ideas behind relativity and quantum mechanics, by the end of this course, students will feel confident discussing key concepts like energy, mass, light, and even Schrödinger’s cat.

Friendly Biology opens the world of biology to high school students in a gentle, non-intimidating manner. Students are led through meaningful, well-written lessons and lab activities with the goal of attaining a greater respect for the beauty and complexity of living things. Topics covered include:Characteristics common to all living things; Basic chemistry as it pertains to living things; The roles of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids in living systems; Cytology; Mitosis and meiosis; Chromosome duplication and protein synthesis; The importance of pH in living systems; Methods of reproduction;Mendelian genetics;Taxonomy; A survey of members of each kingdom of living things with emphasis placed on various classes and orders of importance; An overview of all body systems of humans andEcology of living things. 28 lessons with lab activities included.

History

In this engaging, research-based course, students will explore major historical events, civilizations, and movements by investigating assigned topics and presenting their findings to the class. This format encourages independent learning, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Each student will complete research projects that promote a deeper understanding from a variety of perspectives.

Civics and Government
Ages 13-18; $150 per semester - Tuesdays 1:00-2:00
This course provides students with an understanding of the principles, structure, and functions of government and the role of citizens in a democratic society. Students will explore the foundations of government, including constitutional principles, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, political systems, public policy, and the electoral process. The course will also examine local, state, and federal government institutions, civic participation, and current issues affecting society. Through discussions, research, and projects, students will develop critical thinking, communication, and civic engagement skills necessary for active participation in government and community life.

Art of Anime (Fall Semester ONLY)
Ages 11+; $150 per semester - Thursdays 1:00-2:00
This is a one semester class that will practice the art and style of the different genres of anime while discussing the history and artists behind the medium. Each class will review a different style of anime and will walk through techniques for students to create a piece of their own within that genre. All lessons will be age appropriate and will uphold the values within the INV Homeschool Collective. This course is for all artistic skill levels. Prior experience is not required.

Shop Class
Ages 13-18; $250 per semester - Shop 1a Tues & Thurs 12:30-2:00 OR Shop 1b Tues & Thurs 2:30-4:00
Students will dive into the fundamentals of woodworking, including essential shop safety, using hand and power tools, and working with different kinds of wood. They’ll also explore basic construction and joinery techniques, laying a strong foundation in practical craftsmanship. In the second semester, building on those skills, students will advance to project design and learn to think and draw in three dimensions. We’ll introduce modern fabrication tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers, giving students a blend of traditional and contemporary maker skills. Throughout the year, students will complete individual projects and may collaborate on group builds that foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. All materials provided. There are two SEPARATE classes. Each class meets twice per week, for 1.5 hours each day. Shop 1A meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30-2:00. Shop 1B meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:30-4:00. Students sign up for the whole year; payment is collected at the beginning of each semester. No schedule conflicts will be permitted, students must be able to attend the entire class period (1.5 hours) each week.
Students must be able to handle loud noises and strong smells.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students MUST have Z87.1-rated safety glasses.
