INV Homeschool Hybrid

Our homeschool collective is a safe space for students to do independent work among peers and/or to take advantage of our incredible teachers! Classes currently available for ages 6 and older. Students age 9 and older may stay on site throughout the day without a parent.

We want to give opportunity for community and creativity in a safe space.To keep all students safe and keep a peaceful space, ALL students who register must be able to regulate their emotions and behavior. All students and parents are required to sign our Code of Conduct. INV reserves the right to dismiss a student if they are not willing or able to keep the code of conduct.

INV is a NO PHONE ZONE so your student will need to keep their cell phone in their bag.

There is a studio/registration fee of $300 per year per student to cover the cost of the space and facilities.

IEW Elementary Writing and Intro to Grammar

Ages 9-12; $175/semester —Tuesdays/Thursdays 1:00-2:00 PM
This beginning writing class uses the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW)’s Structure and Style method to help young students build a strong foundation in writing. Through fun, incremental lessons, students will learn to organize their thoughts, take notes, and write clear, complete paragraphs. They’ll also practice using stylistic techniques like strong verbs, quality adjectives, and sentence variety to make their writing more interesting. With gentle guidance, students will grow in confidence and develop the skills they need for future academic success—all in a supportive, encouraging environment. Meets twice a week - includes Independent Study with tutor/Grammar games/review.

Required Materials: Folder or notebook, paper, pencils, and creativity!

Young Debaters

Ages 7-10; $150/semester - Mondays 10:00 - 11:00 AM

This class is a playful introduction to debate. We will be focusing on clear speaking, sharing ideas, and respectful listening. Students will explore fun topics such as “Are dinosaurs cooler than dragons?” through games, storytelling, and mini-debates. The end objective is to develop confidence and encourage teamwork while sharpening communication and reasoning skills.

At the end of the semester, we will have a final debate with parents invited.

Math Games & Independent Math Study with Tutor

Ages 6-12; $125/semester- Tuesdays/Thursdays 12:00-1:00 PM

In this space, your child can play math games or work on their individual math curriculum with a tutor available for questions.

Hands On Science

Age 6-12; $200/semester— Mondays 12:00-1:00 PM

This exciting, hands-on science class is designed to spark curiosity and wonder in young learners! Each week, students will dive into fun, age-appropriate experiments and activities that explore topics in life science, earth science, physical science, and more. From building simple machines to exploring the weather, animals, and chemistry basics, students will learn through doing—asking questions, making observations, and discovering how the world works. This class encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a love of science through active exploration and play-based learning.

This introductory science course is designed to spark curiosity and build a strong foundation in scientific thinking for upper elementary and early middle school students. Through hands-on experiments, engaging discussions, and interactive lessons, students will explore topics across life science, earth science, physical science, and basic chemistry and physics. Emphasis is placed on observation, inquiry, the scientific method, and real-world application. This class encourages students to ask questions, think critically, and develop a love for exploring the world around them.

Elementary Art (fall)

Age 7-12; $150/semester—Thursdays 2:00-3:00 PM

Elementary Art for fall will focus on a variety of artists, ranging from Creation to Contemporary, and their art styles. Each class will discuss those artists and then mimic that respective style in an art project. Students will also be introduced to color theory as well as techniques. Students will need a watercolor palette, brushes, and a watercolor notebook. Students enrolled will receive an email with details as to which specific supplies to buy.

Elementary Robotics

Age 8-12; $150/semester— Mondays 2:00-3:00PM

Basic Robotics will cover planning for robotic builds in the key areas of mechanics, electronics, and programming. The older kids in this age bracket will take on leadership roles as the year progresses. We will possibly do a couple of competitions depending on grant approval. The class will progress at a pace set by the students to keep it enjoyable and challenging at the same time.

Step into the pages of timeless stories and experience history like never before! In this interactive course, students will journey through classic tales and important moments from the past, bringing both literature and history to life in vibrant, hands-on ways. Each week, we’ll read stories from around the world, discover fascinating figures and events, and engage in creative projects such as dramatic reenactments, arts and crafts, and group discussions. From the myths of ancient civilizations to the adventures of explorers and inventors, students will build a deeper understanding of the world—past and present—while developing reading comprehension, note-taking, critical thinking, and communication skills. Join us as we make the stories of yesterday unforgettable adventures for today!

Fallacy Detective- Critical Thinking

IEW Literature Analysis - Upper Level High School

Age 15-18; $200/semester—Thursdays 12:00-1:00 PM

Building on foundational writing and grammar skills, this advanced writing course is tailored for upper-level high school students who wish to deepen their engagement with literature and analytical essay writing. Using the acclaimed Institute for Excellence in Writing’s Literary Analysis model, students will explore a rich selection of classic and contemporary literary works, honing their ability to construct insightful, well-organized essays. Throughout the course, participants will focus on thesis development, gathering and integrating textual evidence, and analyzing literary devices with sophistication. Lessons emphasize the mastery of formal essay structure while also guiding students to refine grammar, expand their vocabulary, and develop a distinctive writing voice. Unlock the power of words and master the building blocks of language in this engaging writing and grammar course! Designed for students ages 12 and up, this class blends the proven techniques of the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) with the straightforward clarity of Easy Grammar. Each week, students will learn to craft compelling essays, narratives, and reports while systematically strengthening their understanding of grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation. Debate and Logic

This course is a structured introduction to debate, focusing on logical arguments, basic research, and confident speaking. Students will tackle relevant topics (should kids have less homework?) through team debates and speeches. Not only will this class encourage critical thinking, but will also help develop logical reasoning to create evidence-based arguments and improve public speaking skills.

This course uses the Math-U-See Pre-Algebra curriculum to bridge the gap between basic math and Algebra 1. Students will strengthen foundational skills while being introduced to more advanced concepts such as integers, order of operations, solving for variables, exponents, basic equations, ratios, proportions, and introductory geometry. The Math-U-See program’s step-by-step instruction, visual aids, and hands-on manipulatives support a variety of learning styles, making math more accessible and less intimidating. This course is ideal for middle school students preparing to move into formal algebra.

This high school geometry course uses the Math-U-See curriculum to provide a comprehensive and hands-on approach to learning geometric concepts. Students will explore various topics, including lines, angles, triangles, polygons, circles, congruence, similarity, area, volume, and geometric proofs. Emphasis is placed on logical reasoning, problem-solving, and the development of critical thinking skills. The Math-U-See program supports visual and kinesthetic learners through the use of manipulatives and step-by-step instruction, making abstract concepts more accessible. Students should be comfortable with Algebra I before enrolling.

Biology with Lab

In this course, we will use the Friendly Biology curriculum to introduce students to the study of living things. Topics will include : characteristics common to all living things; Basic chemistry as it pertains to living things; Cytology; Methods of reproduction; Mendelian genetics; Taxonomy; Human Anatomy; and Ecology. There will be 28 lessons with lab activities. This course is suitable for 9th grade and up.

Chemistry with Lab

Age 15-18; $250/Semester — Tuesdays 2:00-3:00 PM/Thursdays 1:00-2:00 PM

This foundational chemistry course introduces high school students to the basic principles of chemistry through a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on lab experiments. Topics include atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, states of matter, chemical reactions, acids and bases, and basic stoichiometry. Students will develop scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills while learning to safely conduct and document experiments using the scientific method. Labs are designed to reinforce key concepts and provide real-world applications of classroom learning. No prior chemistry experience is required, though basic algebra skills are recommended.

World History with Geography & Government

In this engaging, research-based World History course, students will explore major historical events, civilizations, and movements by investigating assigned topics and presenting their findings to the class. This format encourages independent learning, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Each student will complete research projects that promote a deeper understanding of global history from a variety of perspectives.

For students who have previously completed a World History course, alternative topics will be offered. These may include World Geography, World Governments, European History, or another area of historical interest tailored to the student’s academic goals.

MS/HS Study Skills and Habits/College Prep- How to Become a Superstar Student

Age 12-18; $125/semester — Tuesdays 1:00-2:00 PM

In this course, we will discuss our unique intelligence and how that plays a role in how we learn. We will work on developing effective class habits such as working in groups, managing time, organizing priorities, research writing, and test preparation. This course is suitable for 7th grade and up.  No textbook required, and all work will be in class.

Entrepreneurship (fall)

This course introduces students to entrepreneurship by giving an overview of the skills and mindset needed to become an entrepreneur. Throughout the semester, we will encourage students to be curious about entrepreneurial skills they already possess and explore ways to create ventures in their own areas of interest, big or small!

Outcomes of the course:

After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Understand the process and nature of creating a small business.

Identify the different ways in which an entrepreneur manifests in start-ups

Know how to create one’s own business venture and the various factors that influence successful set-up and sustainable operations.

SHOP CLASS

Age 13-18; $250/Semester — Tuesdays 2:00- 3:00PM OR Thursdays 2:00-3:00PM

Students will dive into the fundamentals of woodworking, including essential shop safety, identifying and working with hardwoods and softwoods, using both kinds, as well as power tools. They’ll also explore basic construction and joinery techniques, laying a strong foundation in practical craftsmanship. In the second semester, building on those skills, students will advance to project design and learn to think and draw in three dimensions. We’ll introduce modern fabrication tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers, giving students a blend of traditional and contemporary maker skills. Throughout the year, students will complete individual projects and collaborate on group builds that foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. This is two SEPARATE classes. This class only meets once per week. We are offering two different days for class size purposes.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students MUST have Z87.1-rated safety glasses. Students MAY NOT attend even one class without these.
